How To Convert Word 2007 Document To PDF Format

Till date most people still use Office 2007 and even below which is why Microsoft made it possible for anyone using even the latest version of Office to be able to Save As 97 - 2003 in Word.
Now that's awesome for Word but when it comes to distributing documents electronically the most preferred is PDF because Word documents in most cases can contain malicious macros plus the fact that you can't possibly think that everybody has Word installed on their computer.

Recently, one of my readers who uses Office 2007 sent me an email asking how he can convert a word document to PDF format otherwise known as optimized online documents. So this post is my answer to him.

Before that let me tell you what Office 2007 can do. You can use it to convert your documents, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations to PDF. However, before you can convert your document to PDF format, you will need to download Microsoft's free Save as PDF add-in for Office 2007 because your Office 2007 does not have this feature as an in-built.

The add-in lets you create PDF documents in Word and seven other Office applications which include;
  1. Microsoft Office Access 2007
  2. Microsoft Office Excel 2007
  3. Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007
  4. Microsoft Office OneNote 2007
  5. Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
  6. Microsoft Office Publisher 2007
  7. Microsoft Office Visio 2007
You can also use the add-in to create XPS documents (Microsoft's flat file format). Though this is still not recommended for wide spread of document electronically.

So here is how to convert word document to PDF format

Step 1: I want to believe you must have downloaded and installed the add-in?

Step 2: Now open the Word document you want to convert to PDF

Step 3: Click the Office button or File Menu

Step 4: Hover your cursor on Save As button and then click PDF or XPS.

Step 5: Finally click on Publish and your Word document gets converted to PDF format.
So who wants to convert his next Word document to PDF on Office 2007?

That's it!
